Gates warns of Bitcoin: Do not be led by a mask

Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, warned against being drawn into Bitcoin, whose price has risen dramatically in the recent period after a blog post by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk.

Bitcoin, which exceeded $ 50,000 last week, continues to attract more buyers who have been lured by its spectacular growth, despite the concerns of many market regulators.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Gates said that people who do not have as much money as a mask should be careful.

He added that he is not worried about the rise or fall of Elon’s share of the digital currency; Because the latter has a lot of money, but in return he worries because many people believe this madness, even though they do not have a lot of money.

Tesla added $ 1.5 billion of Bitcoin to its budget, and Elon tweeted about it, pushing the digital currency to rise.

After a weeks-long upward trend, the cryptocurrency Bitcoin witnessed a decline, Monday, after reaching a level of more than $ 58,000.

In one of his recent comments on the “Clubhouse” app, Gates noted that “Bitcoin mining is harmful to the environment.”

This statement came about two weeks after researchers at the University of Cambridge discovered that Bitcoin mining consumes more electricity than some countries consume, such as Argentina, for example.

It is noteworthy that the Canadian authorities announced, last month, that they had allowed the launch of the world’s first Bitcoin investment fund on the stock exchange, giving retail investors greater access to this burgeoning digital currency.
