The “Covid-19” epidemic caused by the emerging corona virus has become a pandemic that has affected all countries of the world and claimed the lives of more than 2.4 million people.
The latest statistics related to the global epidemic showed that the number of injuries rose to 109 million, 104 thousand and 825 cases, on Sunday.
While the number of deaths increased to 2 million and 405 thousand and 432 deaths, and the number of recoveries reached 81 million 128 thousand and 354 cases.
HIV infections have been recorded in more than 210 countries and regions since the first cases were discovered in China in December 2019.
In this report, Al-Ain News reviews the latest statistics of the emerging corona virus around the world.
America is “worried”
The White House asked China to make data available on the first days of the outbreak of the Corona virus, saying it was “extremely concerned” about the way the results of the WHO report regarding the origin of the virus were transmitted.
In a statement, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stressed the need for the report to be independent and free of any “change made by the Chinese government,” echoing concerns raised by the administration of former President Donald Trump, who decided to withdraw from the World Health Organization due to this matter.
A Chinese embassy spokesman responded with a strongly worded statement saying that the United States had harmed multilateral cooperation and the WHO in recent years and should not “point fingers” at China and other countries that supported the WHO during the pandemic.
The spokesman said that China welcomed the US decision to return to the WHO, calling on Washington to act appropriately and not to place the blame on other countries.
On Friday, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that all assumptions about the origin of “Covid-19” are still on the table, after Washington said it wanted to review the data of the team led by the World Health Organization in China where the virus appeared for the first time.
Last week, the team led by the World Health Organization, which spent four weeks in China searching for the origin of “Covid-19”, said that it was no longer examining the question of whether the virus had leaked from a laboratory, which the team considered highly unlikely.
The Trump administration has said it suspects the virus may have originated from a Chinese laboratory, which Beijing has strongly denied.
Sullivan noted that President Joe Biden quickly reversed the previous administration’s decision to withdraw from the WHO, but stressed the need to protect the organization’s credibility.
He added, “We have serious concerns about the way in which the preliminary results of the (Covid-19) investigation were transmitted, and we have questions about the process that was applied to reach these results.”

Injuries decline in Canada
Canada reported a total of 823048 cases of COVID-19 and 21,213 deaths, as of Saturday.
According to routine national surveillance data, Canada records a steady decrease in cases of “Covid-19”.
Currently, there are 36,944 active cases across the country, according to Public Health Canada, Saturday.
Currently, many regions in Canada are lifting lockdown measures and reopening risky indoor measures, while experts warn that the fast-spreading virus-centered Covid-19 strains threaten to jeopardize recent progress and trigger a third wave.
And last week, experts who provided the latest modeling data in the province of Ontario warned that Covid-19 strains could trigger a possible third wave of the disease.
A total of 164,307 people in Ontario have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and are now fully vaccinated against the disease.
