World number two, Romanian Simona Halep, skipped the second round of the Australian Open after narrowly defeating her Australian competitor Ayla Tomljanovic (number 72), as she overturned her defeat in Group Three.
Halep was close to losing and bidding farewell to the championship, but reversed her delay to win 4-6 6-4 7-5.
In the next round, Halep will face Russian Veronica Kodermetova, number 36 in the world.

Japanese Naomi Osaka qualified, by defeating French Caroline Garcia 6-2, 6-3, and she will face a strong confrontation with Tunisian Anas Jaber in the next round.
Osaka gave a great performance against veteran Garcia in the hour-long match in the evening matches.
