9 lifestyle changes to reduce hair loss

There is no cure for male or female pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia, but there are many treatments available to stimulate growth.

Lifestyle changes are an easier and cheaper way to support hair growth. I had talks with Express by Dr. Deborah Lee, from Dr. Fox’s online pharmacy, to find out how to reduce hair loss. “If you are concerned about the possibility of losing your hair, it is always best to try to do everything in your power to support your hair growth,” she said.

Here are 9 changes you should start making:

Eat a balanced and healthy diet

Dr. Lee recommends “a diet rich in antioxidants, which are of particular importance in reducing hair loss associated with aging. Antioxidants include: kale, blueberries, broccoli, raspberries, walnuts, artichokes, spinach, dark chocolate, and much more. ”

Treat Which Lack of vitamins or minerals

Lee indicated, “Low levels of B vitamins, vitamin D and iron may lead to hair weakness and hair loss.” So, look for food sources that increase your intake of these vitamins if you have a deficiency.

Get regular exercise

The NHS recommends that everyone get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. She explained to me that “exercise helps fight stress, and stress exacerbates hair loss.”

Reduce your alcohol intake

She told me, “Although alcohol does not directly cause hair loss, excessive alcohol use can mean general malnutrition and malabsorption from the gut. This can have an effect on hair health and growth, so if you are looking to reduce the chances of developing baldness, this is the best way.

Stop smoking

She pointed out to me that “a smoker’s hair tends to be more brittle and torn off, and turn gray early on.”

Deal with anxiety

Studies in mice have shown that stress alters the growth stages in the hair cycle, shortening the anagen phase (active growth).

Take extra biotin

Lots of premium hair growth vitamins contain biotin, which is the secret to long hair.

Take care of your hair

How you handle your hair plays a role in how it grows, so avoid harsh colors, dyes and hair products. “Use sulfate-free shampoo, avoid excessive styling, and do not use a hot hair dryer often, she advises. Do not brush your wet hair, use a lot of conditioner in your hair, and massage your scalp.

Fight drought

25% of every strand of hair is made of water, so you need to make sure you stay hydrated. It is recommended to drink about two liters of water a day for general health and hair growth.
