Zidane after the King’s Cup “scandal”: The loss is not embarrassing

Zinedine Zidane, coach of Real Madrid’s Spanish soccer team, described his team’s exit from the King’s Cup against Deportivo Alquiano, third-tier competitors, as a difficult moment.

Real Madrid bid farewell to the King’s Cup on Wednesday after losing to Alcoyano 1-2 in the 32nd round of the competition.

Zidane said at the press conference held after the match: “We did our best, and the players gave everything on the field.” We had many chances to score the second goal, and when you fail to take advantage of your chances, we see what can happen. It was a different game, and we suffered a lot.

He added: It is a difficult moment because we left the King’s Cup in Spain. We should have done something else, but we didn’t.

“I am the coach and I bear the responsibility, I will accept this,” he added. The players tried everything, and if we were able to score the goal, the game would change completely. The goalkeeper of the opposing team saved two or three balls beautifully, the second goal eluded us and now we left the tournament.

He emphasized: This is football. We were playing against a third-division team and we should have won the match. This isn’t awkward or anything like that. These are things that happen in the career of soccer players, and I take responsibility. We will continue to work hard. We have to get through this defeat like we did before, and we will do it again.

He added: It is another painful day because we do not like to lose, especially for the players, they want to win. We will not go crazy, we must think and work hard.

And he added: I think the players trust me, but you should ask them. We haven’t done many good things lately, but we’ve done some good things this season. We are still competing for the League title and the Champions League. We have to stay focused because we can still win titles.
