Xiaomi announces the new Mi smart alarm clock supported by Google, which is a smart screen for your bedroom that will be put up for sale in Europe for only 50 euros
Despite Google’s reliance on smart screens in recent years, many of them are not available as we had hoped.
The small smart screen was officially unveiled at the European launch of Xiaomi Redmi 9T and Redmi Note 9T in the region.
With a color screen measuring 3.97 inches, the Xiaomi Mi Smartwatch is perfect for bedside.
Although the screen is not very high-definition, it comes with a resolution of only 800 x 480 pixels, but it should be more than enough to get daily updates and information quickly.
One of the biggest features here is the built-in Chromecast feature, which means that you should be able to send YouTube videos and supported video content directly to the mini screen.
And there’s a 1.5-inch full-frequency speakerphone with two long-range microphones to help you interact with Google Assistant and improve Hey Google hot word detection.
The sunrise alert feature is also included in the Xiaomi Mi Smartwatch, which gradually increases the screen brightness and alarm sound, ensuring that waking up every morning is not an uncomfortable experience.
And you don’t get a front camera, which would be an added feature for the privacy of the bedroom, but there are three buttons on the top edge of the clock, and there are keys to increase and decrease the volume along with a dedicated button that disables the display when you want to sleep.
The smartwatch works through its full touch screen, so controls across the screen can also be used in conjunction with the buttons.
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Watch is priced at 50 euros in European markets, but it is only available in one color, which is white.
It can connect to other Mi smart home technologies, such as: security cameras and those associated with the Google Assistant.
In terms of connectivity, the new smart alarm clock supports 2.4GHz wireless network and Bluetooth low energy.
The watch has a random access memory of 1 GB, and it features a storage space of 4 GB, and is compatible with Android devices running Android 4.4 or later and iOS devices running iOS 9.0 or later.
It is clear that Xiaomi is trying to compete with the Lenovo Smart Clock, which is slightly more expensive in the European market, but it lacks some of the basic features of this newer device.
Xiaomi has not confirmed the release date or additional global availability.
