New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio warned that doses of the Corona vaccine will run out this week and that delivery dates will have to be canceled unless a new quantity is obtained.
“We will not have any vaccines left until Friday,” he said. “We aim to vaccinate 300,000 people this week, but we only have 92,000 doses.”
He continued: “We have the ability to vaccinate a large number of people, but we need the vaccine.”
De Blasio is the latest among a growing number of state and local officials asking the federal government to allocate more doses.
Yesterday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo asked Pfizer to secure the purchase of doses from it directly instead of waiting for the federal distribution.
