The preparations of the Emirates Judo team are currently continuing to participate in the Grand Slam Tel Aviv Championship, which will be held from February 18 to 20 next, which will be preceded by the joint training camp in Tel Aviv starting next week in response to the invitation of the Israeli Federation and its arrangements to establish a joint camp that brings together the Emirati teams. And the Israeli within the framework of the existing cooperative relations between the two parties.
Mohammed bin Thaaloub Al Deri, President of the Emirates Wrestling and Judo Federation, reassured the team’s preparations and arrangements before traveling, and urged the players to make the most of the camp and the tournament in which many strong schools will participate.
The International Judo Federation supervises the Tel Aviv Grand Slam championship in which 33 countries will participate that have confirmed their registration so far, and the UAE will be the first Arab country to join, and the camp and then the championship will come within the national team preparation program for the upcoming official participations, especially the Tokyo Olympics, which our team has qualified for. First priority in all external participations.
It is expected that the national team at the Tel Aviv Grand Slam tournament will be represented by Victor Skatov, the winner of the bronze medal in the weight of 73 kg in the last Asian Games in Jakarta, and the player Ivan, who is participating for the first time in the tournament with a weight of 100 kg.
Our team preparation program also includes participation in the Turkish Grand Prix Championship, scheduled for April 1, 2021, the Grand Slam Championship in Tashkent in Uzbekistan on May 5, and the Grand Slam Championship in Paris on May 8, 2021, followed by the World Judo Championship in Budapest during the period from June 8-13, before heading to the Tokyo Games.
