The new hotel is expected to open in January as part of the group’s expansion in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adding 138 rooms to the Intercontinental portfolio in the Saudi capital.
The new hotel is located near King Khalid International Airport and the Riyadh front and will house two food outlets. It will be part of a mixed-use project that includes 20 offices, a coffee shop, a mosque and a nursery.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains a priority market for us in the region and we are delighted to add another hotel to our growing portfolio in the country, despite the current challenges facing the industry,” said Matthew Tribollon, Vice President of IHG.
He added, “We believe that Vision 2030 will continue to advance and that the hospitality industry will be a very important sector, and that growth will be fueled by the increasing demand from businessmen and tourists, and major cities like Riyadh will be at the heart of this demand.”
It is worth noting that IHG currently operates 95 hotels across seven brands in the Middle East, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Foucault and Six Senses, with dozens set to open within the next five years. .
The group recently signed an agreement to manage the 145-room Foucault north of Jeddah, which is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2022.
