Switzerland’s investigation of the Central Bank of Lebanon case at the request of the Lebanese government

“The investigation launched by the Swiss Attorney General in cases related to the Lebanese Central Bank began at the request of the Lebanese government, which is looking into reports of what it said were billions of dollars that left Lebanon after banks prevented transfers abroad,” the Washington Post reported in a report.

The newspaper pointed out that “the Swiss public prosecutor has requested legal assistance from the Lebanese authorities and that he has opened an investigation following Lebanese media reports on this, but no further details were revealed.”
In turn, the Associated Press highlighted the statement of the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, in which he indicated that “Lebanon abides by international and domestic laws and cooperates with all concerned.”
