The Saudi Ministry of Health has called on all residents of the Kingdom to receive the vaccine distributed against the emerging corona virus, with the aim of achieving herd immunity.
The spokesman for the ministry, Muhammad Al-Abd Al-Aali, said in a press conference held today, Sunday: “We urge everyone to obtain the vaccine to reach community immunity that requires vaccination of everyone against the Corona virus.”
He pointed out that the number of vaccine doses provided in Saudi Arabia has reached 178,337 so far, adding: “We are among the best countries in resisting this pandemic.”
He stressed that whether the first or second dose was taken, the precautionary measures must continue, and the masks should not be removed, explaining that immunity reaches its highest levels two weeks after taking the second dose.
A spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Health confirmed that no health problems were detected for those who received the vaccine, stressing that it is safe.
On December 17th, Saudi Arabia launched a mass vaccination campaign for the Kingdom’s population against Coronavirus infection, with a vaccine developed by the American “Pfizer” and the German “Biontech” company.
