Al-Quds Al-Arabi: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said today, Thursday, that the Kingdom will reopen its embassy in Doha “within days.”
“A Saudi technical team is in Doha to open the embassy,” he added in statements to the semi-official Saudi “Al Arabiya” channel, excerpts of which were posted on Twitter on Thursday.
The minister emphasized that “all the four countries agree on the importance of reconciliation with Qatar,” referring to Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain.
On Saturday, Bin Farhan said, in response to a journalist’s question about reopening the embassies of the two countries, that it is only a logistical matter. The Saudi minister added, “All diplomatic relations with Qatar will be restored,” noting that “Al-Ula’s statement will positively affect the role of the Gulf Cooperation Council.”
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt agreed this month during a summit to restore diplomatic, trade and travel ties that it had cut with Qatar in 2017 over accusations that it supported terrorism, which Doha denied.
