Qualcomm brings fifth generation networks to mid-range phones with Snapdragon 480


Now that the leading smartphones support the fifth generation of communications networks, this year we will see more mid-spec phones get this support also thanks to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor.

This Qualcomm processor is a big leap in the Snapdragon 400 series, as it comes with two Cortex-A76 cores at 2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz. There is an Adreno 619 GPU.

The processor supports a main camera with a resolution of up to 64 megapixels and a built-in X51 modem that provides a download speed of up to 800 megabits per second on LTE networks and up to 2500 megabits per second on the networks of the fifth generation of the type of mmWave and is made with a precision of 8 nm.

Reports indicate that the Snapdragon 480 offers 70% improvements in AI performance. The first smartphone with this processor is expected to reach the market this month.
