Portugal recorded, today, Thursday, a record number of new deaths due to the infection of the Corona virus “Covid-19”, as 221 cases were detected.
The country’s General Administration of Health Affairs stated, in a new statistic, that the total number of confirmed cases of “Covid-19” infection in the country has increased during the past 24 hours, by 13544 compared to 14,647 in a statistic on Wednesday, bringing the total number to 595,149 cases.
The administration stated that during the past 24 hours, it had detected 221 new deaths caused by the virus, compared to 219 in the data on Wednesday, bringing the death toll from the pandemic in the country to the level of 9686 deaths.
This comes as hospitals in Portugal, which has a population of 10 million, continue to contain a sharp increase in the number of patients while the authorities are considering tightening public restrictions to stop the spread of the disease.
