“Nisreen went out a few hours ago, and was given a three-day leave to receive treatment,” said Risa Chandan the day before yesterday (Friday) on Twitter, without giving further details about his wife’s health condition.
But he posted a picture of himself with the activist and their two children after her temporary release from Garshak prison, south of Tehran.
According to the German news agency, concerns have been raised more than once about Sotoudeh’s health in recent months, especially after her hunger strike for nearly 50 days last year to protest the conditions of political prisoners during the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.
The activist, 57, suffers from a weak heart, which made her take a month off from prison in November.
The Iranian authorities accused Sotoudeh of “subversive propaganda.” In 2018, a revolutionary court sentenced her to 33 years and six months in prison and 148 lashes. She must serve at least 12 years of her sentence.
