US Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell proposed Thursday a timetable that would delay the start of former President Donald Trump’s Senate trial until mid-February.
McConnell said in a statement that he had sent his proposal to Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer.
McConnell suggested that the House of Representatives send Trump’s indictment to the Senate on January 28, with the former president given two weeks to prepare before the trial begins in the Senate.
