Health Organization: Kovacs supplies 355 million doses of vaccine to the Eastern Mediterranean this year

CAIRO (Reuters) – A World Health Organization official said on Wednesday that the Kovacs program for the purchase and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines expects to supply 25 million doses of vaccine to the eastern Mediterranean region by March and increase them to 355 million doses by December.

WHO official Evan Houten told reporters that the first doses of Kovacs given to the region would arrive in February.

The Eastern Mediterranean region in the WHO geographical division includes the countries of the Middle East in addition to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Djibouti.
