Health clarifies the issue of respirators in the Sports City

The Media Office at the Ministry of Public Health issued a clarifying statement about what is being circulated regarding respirators in the Sports City, stating:

“The devices in the Sports City are portable ventilators that are used to transport patients from one place to another for a limited period of time that does not exceed two hours.

As for the ICU Ventilators, which are needed by patients with Corona and who suffer from critical health conditions and are admitted to intensive care, their composition is completely different from portable devices and have specific specifications that allow them to be used for continuous hours over multiple days.

Also, portable respirators are completely different in their specifications and role from the oxygen machines that are used in homes.

In any case, these devices that Lebanon received from the State of Qatar form part of the field hospitals that have begun to be installed in cooperation with the Lebanese army, and they will be handed over to these field hospitals to secure the transfer of patients to them.

In this context, it is important for the Ministry of Public Health to confirm that the aid donations it received in the previous period from portable ventilators and received by the Lebanese Army were completely delivered according to the lists of needs that it received from hospitals, so that thirty-three governmental hospitals, one hundred twenty-two, and seventy Private hospital, one hundred seventy-eight devices (regulations are attached in detail). This confirms that the Ministry does not seek at all to keep any device. Rather, it sought to obtain donations that came mostly from the will of their providers, such as portable devices for transporting patients and not artificial respirators designated for intensive care and critical cases. So, clarification was required. “
