This came at a time when the corporation seeks to privatize the water sector and develop the production system on a commercial basis, in order to begin offering it in many regions of the Kingdom, in order to allocate it to companies wishing to carry out implementation work.
This project is the first of the corporation’s production groups to be privatized under the supervision of the “Supervisory Committee for Privatization” in the environment, water and agriculture sector, and with the active participation of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the National Center for Privatization and the Saudi Water Partnerships Company.
The “Saline Water Conversion Corporation” has announced the qualification of a number of local and international companies and strategic alliances for the project “Privatization of the Ras Al-Khair Production System”, as offers are expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
Desalination is preparing to launch the Yanbu and Shuaiba production systems, in addition to other privatization projects that are currently being established with the participation of the private sector, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and in line with the state’s aspirations to stimulate local and foreign companies to invest.
The production capacity of the “Ras Al-Khair Production System” is 1051 million cubic meters per day, while the capacity of the “Yanbu Production System” is 566 thousand cubic meters per day, and the production capacity of the “Shuaiba Production System” reaches 400 thousand cubic meters per day.
The sector is considered one of the most important economic and social pillars in the Kingdom, as it is responsible for providing basic and integrated services for water needs, and in continuation of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation’s endeavor towards achieving its goals in the Saudi vision of increasing the private sector’s participation in water desalination, and to achieve the goals of its allocation, And represented by focusing on customer needs, attracting private sector investments, and developing the water sector, working on a commercial basis, in addition to the ease of governance and implementation.
It is noteworthy that the “Saline Water Desalination Corporation” announced last week an agreement separating the transport system from production, and assigning its management to a private company, within the “Desalination Privatization Program”, which is expected to contribute to raising the efficiency and organization of the water sector, revealing investment opportunities About 60 billion riyals (16 billion dollars) in transport systems and strategic water storage.
