Athletic Bilbao won the Spanish Super Cup champion for the third time in its history by beating Barcelona 3-2 after the extension, in the final that brought them together at the “La Cartuja” stadium in Seville.

Barcelona opened the scoring window in the 40th minute through its French star Antoine Griezmann, and the Basque team quickly equaled two minutes later through Oscar de Marcos.

The first half ended with the two teams tied with one goal each.

Griezmann re-led Barcelona by scoring the second goal in the 77th minute of the match.

Bilbao equalized the result in the last minute of the normal game time, through Acier Villalebri.

The original time of the match ended, with the two teams tied with two goals each, to hold them for two extra time.

Bilbao scored the lead through Iñaki Williams in the third minute of the first extra half time, with a superb shot that did not stop or return.

Barcelona ended the match with ten players after Argentine captain Lionel Messi was sent off after returning to VAR, for hitting one of the opponents’ players without a ball in the last minute of the second extra time, before the referee blew the whistle at the end of the match announcing Bilbao’s victory and achieving his third title in the competition.
