The Iraqi Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr welcomed today, Friday, the return of Saudi-Qatari relations because of their benefit to the two countries, the region, and Iraq in particular.
Al-Sadr said in a tweet to him on his personal account on the social networking site in Twitter, “We hope that the return of relations between the two sister states, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, will be of benefit to the two countries, the region in general, and Iraq in particular, and a beginning to get Iraq out of sectarian conflicts and banish interference in the Iraqi issue.” “.
He expressed hope that “everyone will cooperate together in order to keep the occupation, terrorism and normalization away from all Arab and Islamic countries.”
It is noteworthy that the “Al-Ula Declaration” issued by the 41st Gulf Summit held in Saudi Arabia last Tuesday stipulated the resumption of relations between Qatar on the one hand, and Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt on the other side, after a break over a period of more than three and a half years.
