Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, confirmed that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Innovation plays a major role in developing Arab sports, by honoring creators in various fields of sports work. The official Al-Ahly website reported Al-Khatib’s statements upon his recent visit to the Dubai Sports Council and the award’s headquarters.
During which he affirmed his pride in being one of the winners of the Innovation Award, and recalled receiving from His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee and President of the Award, the club’s winning shield as the best Arab team in the fifth session of the award in 2013, after winning a league championship. African football champions 2012 for the seventh time, participating in the 2012 Club World Cup for the fourth time, and winning fourth place in this tournament.
He stressed that the prizes give the winning club, the players and the fans an incentive to win more titles and achievements, but winning the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Sports Innovation Award gives the club special recognition, because the achievement is associated with an award bearing the name of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State. The Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai – may God protect him – is also associated with the word creativity, which is the highest and most prestigious degree of distinction and achievement.
