The Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the participation of 20 international teams in the third edition of the Emirates Tour, which is the only global race in the Middle East region, and is part of the UCI races agenda, at the opening of the 2021 season, which will start from February 21 to 27 next. In cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council.
The participation of the following teams was confirmed: the Belgian Alpsin Phoenix, the highest ranked among the teams last season, the French AG2R Citroen, the Kazakh Astana, the Bahraini Victorious, the Bora-Hansgrohe German, the French Covidis, the Belgian Dequink, the American IF Education – Nebo, the French Groupama – FDG, British Grandiris, Belgian Intermarshi, Israeli Start, Dutch Jumbo, Belgian Lotto, Spanish Movie Star, Australian Pike Exchange, German DSM, Cubica Asus South Africa, American Segafredo, and the UAE.
The teams compete in the challenge through seven stages, in the various emirates of the country, starting and ending in Abu Dhabi. It is expected that the third edition will witness a great competition for the red shirt (the overall standings) between British Adam Yitz, champion of the last edition, and Tadej Bogacher, winner of the Tour de France 2020.
