The Colombian Football Association announced that Portuguese Carlos Queiroz is no longer coach of Colombia, after the two big losses of “Los Cafeteros” in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Uruguay and Ecuador last month.
Queiroz (67 years), also a former coach of Iran and Portugal, took over as Colombia coach in February of last year and led it in 18 matches, winning nine of them, tied in five and lost four.
Under his leadership, Colombia qualified for the 2019 Copa America quarter-finals in Brazil, before losing on penalties to Chile.
After a good start in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers, Colombia suffered two big losses against Uruguay 0-3 and Ecuador 1-6.
These two losses resulted in Colombia becoming seventh in the World Cup qualifiers with four points, eight points behind leaders Brazil.
