The director of public relations for the Italian energy group Eni said on Wednesday that the Middle East, and especially the Gulf, will have an increasing role in the company’s strategy.
“It is clear that the Gulf region is still the ideal place,” said Labo Pistelli in an online interview.
He explained that the region contains 50 percent of the traditional energy reserves that can be exploited at the lowest costs.
He continued, “But the most important thing is that it is the place where there are many new ideas and technologies … new technologies for the production of renewable energy and the construction of smart cities.”
Eni pledged earlier this year to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases by 80 percent, in one of the sector’s most ambitious clean energy initiatives.
