Turkish exports of “ornamental plants” completely stopped last month, while defense and aviation exports decreased by 90.4 percent, jewelry exports by 84.4 percent, and exports of fresh fruits and vegetables by 75.5 percent.

Exports of other industrial products increased by 437.4 percent, and exports of tobacco by 90.3 percent.

Turkish exports to Saudi Arabia last September amounted to 214 million dollars, according to the Turkish Exporters Association.

And the month of September witnessed an increase in the percentage of Turkish exports to Saudi Arabia, by 8.6 percent compared to last August.

Saudi Arabia ranks 15th among the countries to which Turkey exports, with a share of 1.78 percent of its products, and an amount that reached two billion and 231 million dollars in the ten months of 2020.

Relations between Saudi Arabia and Turkey became tense after the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

Since then, the Saudi kingdom has unofficially issued various obstacles to Turkish companies.

Although relations were not good in 2019, Turkey’s exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 25 percent compared to the previous year, reaching $ 3.3 billion.
