Getting ready Astronomy scientists Tomorrow Sunday to watch a large asteroid called 2000 WO107 It will approach a safe distance from Earth that provides professional astronomers with a good opportunity to study it and provide amateur astronomers with a snapshot of it, and that event will occur at 05:08 UTC.

The asteroid has a diameter of 1670 feet, which is approximately half a kilometer or 1/3 of a mile, and it will pass 11.2 times the distance between the Earth and the moon, which is a very safe distance to study, but the asteroid is visible to the eye, but people who have small telescopes may pick it up.

Unlike other known asteroids, this asteroid is one of the few asteroids that cross the side of the Earth, and in recent years astronomers have begun to see smaller and smaller asteroids as they pass by the side of the Earth, and they compared this asteroid with the asteroid 2020 SW, which came 7% of the moon’s distance in September 24, 2020, and they found that it is much larger than the asteroid 2020 SW, which is only about 4.5 to 10 meters in diameter.

Astronomers will study WO107 2000 by bouncing radar signals from its surface and then by analyzing the signals that are reflected, and these observations were planned at the Goldstone Deep Space Communications complex in California, scheduled for November 27 to December 1, 2020.

Radar observations of asteroids lead to images that show us the shape of the asteroid, and observations 2000 WO107 may allow scientists to determine the composition of space rocks, and the asteroid may be a mineral, or it may be visually dark rock, i.e. a dark rock in the visible light part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Mexico 2000 WO107 on November 29, 2000, and NASA’s NEOWISE Space Telescope was also used to observe it; NEOWISE has determined that the size of the asteroid is about 510 meters in diameter.

The asteroid 2000 WO107 is classified as Aton; Meaning that the orbit of this space rock crosses the Earth’s orbit and spends most of its time inside the Earth’s orbit, and the asteroid completes its journey around the sun once every 318 days, and orbital models indicate that in addition to approaching the Earth at times, this asteroid also approaches Mars and Venus And Mercury.

And after visiting Earth on November 29, 2020, the asteroid will return, to get a little closer to each subsequent flight, first in November 2040, then in November 2093, and close flight will occur on December 1, 2140, when the asteroid will pass half the distance between Earth and the moon, due to its size and close flight Relatively speaking, the 2000 WO107 asteroid has been classified as a potentially dangerous asteroid. However, no risks have been disclosed. Collision , As its orbit is well known.
