The procession was accompanied by hundreds of Maradona fans and fans with their cars on the way to the Argentine capital.
According to local media, some riots broke out on Thursday morning, which led to the palace doors being closed for some minutes before it was reopened again later.
The coffin was wrapped in the legendary “No. 10” shirt of the “Albiceleste” team, which is Maradona’s number.
