Prince Khalifa progressed in positions until he was appointed in 1960 as head of government finance, and this was the last position held by “Khalifa” during the reign of his father, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain at the time.

Khalifa was appointed President of the State Council in 1970, and hours after Bahrain’s independence, his brother, the ruler of Bahrain, Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, issued a decree reorganizing the state’s administrative organization. The name of the State Council was changed to the Council of Ministers, the President of the State Council to the Prime Minister, and members of the State Council to Ministers.

According to “Erm News”, Sheikh Khalifa is dubbed “the architect of independence.” As he laid the foundations for building a state and the renaissance of Bahrain, and he weathered all the challenges and threats it faced; Almost 50 years ago, Khalifa bin Salman, along with his brother Isa, undertook the efforts of political and diplomatic negotiations with France, Britain and the United States.
