The Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, confirmed that the G20 summit, which his country is hosting, will place a top priority on protecting lives and the economy from the consequences of the Corona pandemic.
The Foreign Minister said that the G20 leaders’ summit this year comes under exceptional circumstances in which the Corona pandemic has imposed many challenges on the whole world that impeded many activities in various fields.
He explained in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Kingdom, since assuming the presidency of the Group of Twenty, “has prepared a comprehensive and ambitious program under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and with close follow-up and direct supervision by Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.” .
He said, “The program focused on three main axes: empowering people, preserving the planet, and forming new horizons, in order to work to create appropriate conditions that enable people, especially women and youth, to work and prosper.”
He explained that the Kingdom has placed at the top of its priorities the protection of lives and the economy from the consequences of the Corona pandemic, and has paid special attention to discussing policies related to individuals with their various interests and areas that affect their lives.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that his country seeks to push policy solutions to address the epidemic, and work with international partners and organizations to achieve these solutions, adding that Saudi Arabia, based on its responsibility, has sought to mobilize international efforts and hold virtual conferences and meetings at the ministerial level and various communication groups, believing in the importance of joint international cooperation, To move forward in facing global challenges and mitigate the effects of crises on the peoples of the entire world.
