The head of the Sudanese National Umma Party, Sadiq al-Mahdi, has died of his infection with the Coronavirus.
“Reuters” news agency quoted sources in the Al-Mahdi family and a statement issued by his party, that he died while receiving treatment in the United Arab Emirates.
Three weeks ago, the Mahdi (84 years) entered a hospital in the UAE, after being infected with the Corona virus.
Al-Mahdi was prime minister in Sudan, until he was ousted in 1989 in the military coup that brought former President Omar al-Bashir to power.
