Napoli players wear the number “10” in honor of Maradona – the athlete – the Emirates stadiums

All the Italian Napoli players entered the ground of their club’s San Paolo stadium wearing the number 10 shirt and the name of Maradona, the day before yesterday, the day after the death of their former star, before the start of the team’s match against Rijeka in the fourth round of the European League (Europa League).

All the players wore the black badge and kept the symbol jersey during the presentation of the two teams and during the minute of silence, as an image of the greatest absentee appeared on a giant screen inside the stadium.

Over the course of the day, thousands of Napoli supporters flocked to the San Paolo stadium, which will soon be called Maradona, as the city’s mayor suggested last Wednesday, while club president Aurelio de Laurentiis stated: “I think it is fair to call the San Paolo stadium your name to stay. With us”.

Napoli supporters did not wait for the decision of the board of directors, so they put up signs on the walls of the stadium reading “Diego Armando Maradona Stadium” with a picture of the Argentine’s face and the signature of the supporters of the famous runway “Corva B”.

Maradona left an indelible mark in the history of Naples, who defended his colors over seven years and led them to win the domestic title twice, the European Cup once and the Italian Cup.

Napoli captain Lorenzo Essini placed a bouquet of flowers on the club’s walls and said: “Maradona is a lot, not only for me personally, but also for the people of Naples. He always defended us, he carried us in his heart and we should reciprocate him. ”
