Medical unions: We call on the Minister of Health to fulfill his promise to us

The Doctors Syndicates in Beirut and Tripoli announced in a statement, “At a time when Lebanon as a whole is involved in implementing the road map developed by His Excellency the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hamad Hassan, based on the recommendations of the medical body, with the aim of limiting the spread of the Corona epidemic, and at a time when doctors present martyr after martyr This battle is in defense of the health security of the Lebanese community, which needs unity, not a division, especially between the components of the health sector. At this time, the Head of the Lebanese Pharmacists Syndicate came to us with a statement containing many charges against doctors and fallacies that target the achievements of Lebanese doctors in the field of vaccination and immunization against communicable diseases. In this regard, we would like to emphasize the following:

1. Lebanon was classified among the countries most vaccinated and immunized for children (from 85 to 95%), and pediatricians have an active role in this matter, whether in their private clinics, where 50% of Lebanese children received their vaccinations or in public clinics and health centers, which contributed to the development of Lebanon is among the highest degrees of health systems.

2. Doctors have always been and still are messengers in their profession who are above materialism in their dealings with their patients. There are many examples in all cities and villages of Lebanon, as well as during all national campaigns for vaccination, and the material allowance they receive in their clinics is a right for them that Lebanese law permits them at a tariff that is a minimum set. The union as for the cap is subject to the understanding between the doctor and the patient.

3. What doctors receive is the price of the vaccine, in addition to the examination allowance, which is set by the Syndicate as a minimum, according to Lebanese law.

4. It is recognized in science and studies that the sales figures of vaccine importing companies do not reflect the size of the human population that received the vaccination (which fell below 47%), but rather the movement of these vaccines from one warehouse to another only.

5. The vaccines were always kept in doctors’ offices within the international standards for preserving vaccines, as recommended by the World Health Organization.

6. His Excellency the Captain knows that the decision of His Excellency Dr. Hamad Hassan regarding vaccines has been exploited by some of the wealthy pharmacists and medicine who have deliberately monopolized vaccines, broke them up, sold them on the black market, gave spoiled or outdated vaccines, and impersonated, especially the influenza vaccine that was sold In some pharmacies, at exorbitant prices, which contradicts the Minister of Health’s plan to provide the vaccine to the largest number of citizens within the legal frameworks, and with what is available from foreign currencies, which have become scarce in the state treasury.

7. We regret to say that the attack of His Excellency the President of the Pharmacists Syndicate on doctors is not innocent, especially after His Excellency the Minister promised us to correct some of the gaps in the implementation of his recent decision on vaccinations. Rather, he wants from this attack and controversy to direct attention and efforts not towards improving public health decisions but towards debates that do not lead Except for more crises that benefit health traders and drug monopolists.

8. Finally, we would like to emphasize that the citizen’s health is the basis. That is why we call on His Excellency the Minister of Public Health to implement what we promised during our meeting with him related to modifying the pathway for vaccines to reach doctors who are the only ones entitled to assess human health and decide who should be given the vaccine or not and take action Inoculation medical work. ”
