The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai announced the lifting of the suspension of Friday prayers in the mosques of the Emirate of Dubai, starting on Friday, December 4, according to the directives issued by the Supreme Committee for Crisis, Disaster and Emergency Management.
The opening decision came after setting a set of controls and procedures that must be followed by mosque-goers, after the official announcement of the gradual return by lifting the suspension of prayer in the emirate’s mosques.
The Director General of the Department, Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh Ahmed Al-Shaibani, affirmed that everyone must adhere to the instructions adopted by the official authorities to limit the spread of the epidemic … indicating that the suspension of Friday prayers and sermons has been lifted from 766 mosques in the Emirate of Dubai .. explaining that due to the current circumstances of the pandemic Temporary mosques have been added, including 60 mosques, to accommodate all worshipers, residents and visitors of Dubai.
Al-Shaibani added that the department worked to update the list of precautionary measures.
Stressing the need to commit to entering and leaving the mosque regularly and not to jostle … explaining that cooperation has been made with volunteers in each mosque in coordination with the Crisis and Disaster Committee in Dubai to organize the process of entering and leaving the mosque and ensure that the internal campus is full, closing the doors, and directing the worshipers to use the external squares of the mosque. He pointed out the importance of adhering to wearing the muzzle, leaving a distance of 1.5 meters and not shaking hands.
The department stressed the need to follow the instructions and controls for Friday prayers, which include observing the safe distance between worshipers, organizing the entry and exit process from mosques, and allowing prayer in the outer courtyards of the mosque, by specifying a capacity of up to 30 per cent.
