Next Friday, the 12th edition of the “Cairo International Jazz Festival” will begin (between November 13 and 20), with the participation of 20 bands from 10 foreign and Arab countries (Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, Romania, Portugal, Croatia. , Chile). A group of Egyptian jazz groups, including the singer Fathy Salama’s troupe, and author Hisham Galal, who is participating in two musical projects this year, will join the Cairo Big Band orchestra. The festival will also host the artist, Ali Helbawi, in a project that brings him together with the clarinet and saxophone player Alex Simo from Romania. Among the most prominent international participants in this session are the Swiss actress Alina Doni, the Danish actress Claudia Campaniol, the Hungarian Linda Kovach, and the Moroccan jazz singer Sarah Mulblad. The festival honors artist Amer Barakat, in recognition of his artistic role and contributions to the field of jazz over half a century. Within the festival’s programming, workshops and documentary screenings will be held, in addition to allocating a program for children and group playing sessions that provide an opportunity for musical interaction between artists. The festival will also organize a photographic exhibition documenting the history of jazz in Europe and Egypt, to introduce visitors to this history and the symbols of Egyptian and European jazz.
