The Royal Spanish Football Association signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia to establish the Spanish Super Cup for the second time in a row there during the month of January. And according to a report published by the Spanish newspaper “As”.

The report said that the tournament will be played from January 13 to 16.

The first semi-final will be held on Wednesday, January 13th, while the second semi-final will be held on Thursday, January 14th, and the final will be held on Saturday, 16th.

Real Madrid and Barcelona will be the champions and runners-up in the league, while the Basque country duo, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, who have reached the Copa del Rey final, will participate in this edition.

The Spanish Super Cup will be held without playing the King’s Cup final so far, as the final was postponed due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic and has not been played yet.

A contract was signed between the Spanish Federation and Saudi Arabia for a period of 3 years, and the report indicated that the federation would grant 120 million euros, and half of the money would be distributed to the participating clubs, and half to the union.

The report indicated that an agreement had been signed on non-disclosure of the amounts paid, which would enter the clubs and the federation.

Real Madrid was crowned champion of the last Spanish Super Cup in its new form, with the participation of 4 teams, after winning a penalty shootout against Atletico Madrid.
