Clashes between police and Maradona fans before his funeral

Argentine police clashed with spectators queuing to see the body of soccer legend Diego Maradona, as authorities prepared to close access ports to the Casa Rosada presidential palace. Local television footage showed what appeared to be tear gas canisters and riot police trying to drive away spectators who tried to reach the body of Maradona, who died Wednesday at the age of 60. Thousands of spectators had lined up nearly two kilometers along the streets of Buenos Aires since the early hours of Thursday morning to take a farewell look at Maradona before the burial ceremony scheduled for later in the evening.
