While the world is still rolling out 5G communications service, China has launched what it says is its first 6G satellite into space.
China launched the world’s first satellite to test the sixth generation communications into Earth orbit from the Taiyuan space base, along with 12 other satellites that were sent.It is expected that this satellite will be used to test a new technology aimed at providing speeds of 6G, which should be very fast.

The experimental technology will be tested at a terahertz frequency, and the waves can carry data at 50 gigabits per second, compared to the current maximum speeds of 500 megabytes per second. The satellite also contains technologies for monitoring crops and forest fires.
