During the current days, Al-Ahly club officials are choosing between a number of resumes of more than one doctor from the youth sector in the club and outside it to choose one of them to occupy the position of the team doctor to succeed Dr. Khaled Mahmoud, who formally resigned from his position during the past hours.
Al-Ahly’s doctor had submitted his resignation from coaching the team a month ago, but Sayed Abdel Hafeez, the football manager, asked him to postpone the idea of leaving until the completion of the African Champions League championship that Al-Ahly crowned yesterday, Friday, by beating Zamalek with two goals for one goal.
After crowning the African title for the ninth time in the history of Al-Ahly yesterday, officials of the Red Castle agreed to Dr. Khaled Mahmoud’s request to leave, especially since the latter had an offer to work in the Saudi Jeddah club, in addition to his desire to leave due to family circumstances.
Al-Ahly officials believe that Dr. Khaled Mahmoud presented his role fully, efficiently and completely sincerely, so they agreed to his request to leave, provided that the alternative is determined within the next few days, whether by escalating a doctor from the junior sector or seeking the help of a doctor from outside the club.
Al-Ahly begins tomorrow, Sunday, to prepare for the match against Al-Ittihad of Alexandria next Tuesday in the semi-finals of the Egyptian Cup, then will play with Nahdet Berkane Al-Maghribi in the African Super Cup on December 10 at Cairo Stadium.
