NASA revealed that an asteroid it previously described as “dangerous” will pass today near the Earth, as the agency will closely monitor this space rock as it passes, according to “Russia Today.”
The asteroid is known as “2020 ST1”, and it is a “monstrous” rock currently passing through the solar system, and the length of the asteroid reaches 350 meters.
According to NASA observations, the giant space rock is traveling at 8.1 kilometers per second, or more than 29,000 kilometers per hour.
The 2020 ST1 asteroid will reach its closest point to Earth today.
And NASA’s monitoring services show that the asteroid will pass more than 19 times the distance between Earth and the moon, or more than seven million kilometers. Nevertheless, NASA believes that the asteroid could be “dangerous”.
