“A shameful crime” … The UAE condemns the assassination of Mohsen Fakhri Zadeh, Iran’s top nuclear scientist


Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The United Arab Emirates announced, on Sunday, its condemnation of the assassination of the chief nuclear scientist in Iran, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, saying it was leading to a state of fueling conflict in the region.

In a statement published by the official news agency (WAM), the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that “the instability in our region and the security challenges it faces push us all to work to avoid actions that could escalate, threatening the stability of the entire region.”

The statement said that the United Arab Emirates “condemns the heinous crime of assassination that targeted Mr. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, which would lead to a state of fueling conflict in the region.”

The statement added, “Given what the region is going through, the UAE calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid the region drifting into new levels of instability and threatening peace.”
