The thriller “Crime on the Banks of the Nile” was removed from the list of holiday movies on Thursday, threatening the chances of reviving the film industry this year.
The Walt Disney Company said the release of the film based on a novel by the detective writer Agatha Christie, and starring actors including Gal Gadot and Kenneth Prana, will be delayed indefinitely.
The film was scheduled to be shown in North America and most of the world on December 18, and it is the latest film to be postponed as the industry struggles to return to work amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Thursday’s move comes after several European countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy and France, re-imposed strict lockdown decisions to combat the increase in cases of coronavirus. Movie theaters in the largest US markets in New York and Los Angeles remain closed.
