The cameras captured an exciting shot of Barcelona’s captain, Lionel Messi, with the referee who directed the “Barca” and Celta Vigo match, last Thursday, in the fourth stage of the Spanish Football League.
The British newspaper “Mirror” reported that Messi was angry at referee Carlos Del Siro, due to his expulsion of Barcelona defender Clement Linglee, before the end of the first half of the match in which “Barca” succeeded in achieving the result of winning 3-0.
The referee marked the second yellow card in the face of Lingley, to expel him in the 42nd minute, for using his arm to stop Celta Vigo player, Denis Suarez.
Messi and a group of Barcelona players strongly objected to the referee’s decision.
After the protests on the field, footage published by Movistar from inside the corridor leading to the dressing room showed Messi, his colleague Gerard Pique and coach Ronald Koeman, discussing with the referee between the two halves.
Referee Carlos Del Siro is seen explaining his decision and why he was fired, as he grabbed Messi’s arm to repeat the movement the defender made before he was sent off.
