Makkah region police arrested the perpetrator (AFP)</p><div><p>Today, Thursday, Saudi Arabia's Makkah region police arrested a citizen who attacked a security guard at the French Consulate in Jeddah with a sharp object.
Saudi media quoted the media spokesman for the Makkah region police, Major Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, as saying that the Special Force for Diplomatic Security managed to arrest a citizen in the fourth decade of his life after he attacked a security guard at the French Consulate in Jeddah, resulting in minor injuries.
According to Al-Ghamdi, the injured person was taken to hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
He also stated that the perpetrator was arrested and that legal measures have been taken against him.
The past days have witnessed protests and angry Arab and Islamic reactions ignited by the insulting French cartoons of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and were followed by the adoption of French President Emmanuel Macron.
