The Center for Excellence for Autism organized the day before yesterday, a session entitled “Applied Behavior Analysis in Saudi Arabia: Reality and Future Foresight”, with the participation of a number of speakers specialized in the field and licensed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in the United States of America.
The session dealt with important axes in the field of applied behavior that began with a historical overview of the field and its relationship to rehabilitative services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, disabilities and similar developmental disorders, as well as the practices and programs emanating from this field.
The speakers discussed the efforts made in the field of applied behavior analysis that seek to improve and enhance the status of the field in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the establishment and implementation of local training programs in cooperation with the competent international bodies to implement these programs, as the local authorities from private or governmental centers and universities seek to provide support that contributes to Achieving the requirements of this specialization, and among those efforts is what the Center of Excellence for Autism offers in terms of attracting licensed practitioners with the ranks of supervisors who work within the center’s team to train and qualify specialized and qualified personnel in the field As well as the Master of Applied Behavior Analysis program offered by the Autism Research Center in cooperation with the University of Nevada Reno (remote) and the Master’s program (regularity) from Dar Al-Hekma University approved by the International Society for Behavior Analysis.
The Center of Excellence for Autism and the parties interested in this field are keen to keep pace with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 programs, including the Human Capacity Development Program through education, rehabilitation and training programs in line with the requirements of the times and the needs of the local and global labor market, and among its priorities is the development of health and rehabilitation professional competencies that possess merits. Based on that, applied behavior analysis services are among the most popular health treatment methods that many researches have indicated their effectiveness in improving symptoms of autism spectrum disorder and similar developmental disorders, which makes this topic among the most important areas that the center works to activate And improve their conditions in the Kingdom.
The session comes within a series of initiatives and specialized training sessions provided by the Center of Excellence for Autism to discuss the most prominent topics in the field, in order to improve the field of autism spectrum disorder and raise the level of quality of services provided to individuals and families around the Kingdom, as well as raise community awareness about the science of applied behavior analysis and provide ways of knowledge in it.
It is noteworthy that the Center for Excellence for Autism came as a result of the National Community Initiative for Saudi banks in the Kingdom, which was adopted by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, represented in establishing and operating the center at a value of 286 million riyals, to be a main center and a specialized reference for all private autism centers in the Kingdom and generalize its experience And assistance in transferring knowledge, training and qualifying the cadres working in those centers, in addition to supporting social research, establishing a national database, and modeling services provided to autism cases in the Kingdom.
The Autism Center of Excellence, for which the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has allocated an integrated building for it at its headquarters in the Olaisha district in Riyadh, aims to attract expertise and transfer global experiences, in addition to caring for and supporting autism cases and providing the necessary support for autistic families to participate in the rehabilitation and support of autism cases and deal with them.
