In the ceremony of signing the Juba Peace Agreement that took place on Saturday, the Saudi Minister for African Countries Affairs, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Qattan, conveyed on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince, sincere congratulations to the leadership and people of Sudan on the occasion of reaching the Juba Peace Agreement, explaining that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is determined To continue to support the Sudanese people to achieve their legitimate aspirations and hopes.

Kattan stressed that Saudi Arabia has confidence in the ability of the brothers in Sudan to move forward on the path of peace, overcome the consequences of the past, and create a bright future on the basis of peaceful coexistence, justice and equal opportunities, according to what the Saudi News Agency indicated.

The Saudi minister expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation for the important role played by the Republic of South Sudan in mediation, noting the efforts made by the Kingdom with the rest of its brothers and regional and international partners in order to reach peace that was achieved by the sincere will of the sovereign council, the transitional government and armed groups that have influenced peace over war. Stability over chaos, development on squandering the country’s wealth.

He referred to Saudi Arabia’s appeal to the rest of the conflict parties to show a spirit of courage and responsibility and join their partners in the homeland, and not to miss this historic opportunity to avoid the unfortunate repercussions that may follow, stressing that the Kingdom’s leadership will continue its support for efforts aimed at preserving Sudan’s sovereignty, national unity, territorial integrity and protection From external interference until it regains its normal position in the Arab and Islamic worlds and as an active partner in its regional and international environment.

On Saturday, Juba, the capital of South Sudan, witnessed the signing of a peace agreement between the Sudanese government and a number of armed movements, to resolve decades of conflicts in Darfur, South Kordofan and Southern Blue Nile that led to the displacement of millions and the death of hundreds of thousands, with the participation of many sponsors, most notably the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia .
