Al-Mouallami: The Kingdom has consistently supported the Palestinian people to recover their usurped rights

His Excellency the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallami, affirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for the efforts of the United Nations to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen in accordance with the relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2216, the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, and the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference. .

In detail, this came in the speech of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, delivered by the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi, yesterday to the Security Council at its meeting under the item “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.”

At the beginning of the speech, he saluted the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Presidency of the Security Council for this month, expressing Saudi Arabia’s appreciation for their constructive efforts in the Council.

He said: In light of today’s discussion by the Council of the situation in the Middle East, we must refer abstractly to the most important causes of instability and the continuation of conflicts in the region, represented by the continued Israeli occupation of Arab lands and the deprivation of the rights of the Palestinian people, as well as the hostile and expansionist policies pursued by the forces of regional chaos through Establishing and deploying militias and armed groups outside the law, interfering in the internal affairs of states, and fueling sectarian strife.

Ambassador Al-Muallami stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has consistently supported the Palestinian people to regain their stolen rights, believing in the centrality of the Palestinian issue as a priority in its policies, and the right of the State of Palestine to sovereignty over all the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including Jerusalem, affirming at the same time adherence to peace. A strategic choice, and resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict in accordance with the international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative that Saudi Arabia presented in 2002.

He pointed out that Saudi Arabia condemns the ongoing Israeli violations, and affirms its categorical rejection of all invalid and illegal Israeli policies, practices and plans that aim at settlement, perpetuate apartheid and obliterate the national identity of the Palestinian people, the latest of which was Israel’s decision to build nearly 5,000 new settlement units in the West Bank.

He reiterated the need for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities, to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression, and to implement the relevant international resolutions, including ending the Israeli occupation of all occupied Arab lands, including the Syrian Arab Golan and Lebanese lands.

He said, “The Houthi militia continues to demonstrate its extremist approach towards the Yemeni people who are suffering from the scourge of war as a result for the sixth year in a row. The coup militia continues to mount the military escalation inside Yemen, targeting Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones, and rejecting all ceasefire initiatives,” he explained. Evidence of this, in addition to the use of the oil tanker (SAFER) as a pressure card to blackmail the international community, and ignoring the risks that the tanker may pose to the marine environment and international commercial transport lines.

He added: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia calls on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities, to seek to implement its decisions related to Yemen, and to work to stop Iran’s destructive interference in the Yemeni affairs by providing military and material support to the Houthi militia to fuel the conflict, and to implement its expansion program in the region. Iran, as stated by its officials, is its support for the Houthi militia, and the last of that was its sending as an ambassador to an unrecognized militia.

Ambassador Al-Muallami added, “Experiences with the Iranian regime have taught us that partial solutions and attempts to appease have not stopped its threats to international peace and security. Saudi Arabia extended its hand to peace with Iran, and dealt with it over the past decades with positivity and openness, and received its presidents several times to discuss ways to build a good relationship.” Neighborhood and mutual respect, but time after time the world saw that this regime refused to respond to these endeavors and continued its sabotage policies and destructive actions to destabilize the security and stability of the countries of the region.

He pointed out that dialogue for the sake of dialogue cannot be the desired goal. Rather, the aim of the dialogue should be to reach actual solutions, and this can only be achieved if Iran takes steps to instill confidence in its intentions and actions and the commitment to respect international laws and treaties. And with Security Council resolutions, and not to interfere in the internal affairs of neighboring countries, and to stop supporting armed groups and militias.
