Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian champion Habib Nurmagomedov for preserving the title of UFC MMA Champion after defeating American Justin Gaitji in UFC 254.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today, Sunday, that President Putin congratulated Habib by phone on his victory in his fight and preservation of his world title.
Habib, 32, forced his American rival to ask for surrender in the second round of the fight that brought them together on “Battle Island” in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, after he tightened the screws on his neck with his legs and hands.
Habib surprised his fans and followers by announcing his retirement after the match, justifying the order for the loss of his father and coach Abd al-Manaf Nurmuhamedov, who died on July 3 of the complications of his infection with the new Corona virus, and his desire to spend more time with his mother.
This victory is the 29-year-old of the Russian champion in his unbeaten professional career, and it is the third time that he defends the championship belt, while the 31-year-old Gaetji suffers the bitterness of defeat for the third time in his career for 22 victories.
