The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Thursday a new postponement of the Egyptian match between Zamalek and Moroccan Raja, in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals, in addition to the final match, for an indefinite period.
“Discussions between the clubs and CAF experts for a plan consistent with the texts and the interest of returning to the match. At this stage of the discussion, it was decided to postpone the semi-finals of Zamalek in front of Raja,” the African Union wrote in its Twitter account.
Zamalek had won the first leg in Casablanca with a clean goal.
As for the final match that Al-Ahly qualified for at the expense of Moroccan Wydad Casablanca, the African Union confirmed, “At the request of the Egyptian authorities, the date for the final match has been postponed. Official discussions are underway to find the best possible date in the calendar at this stage, there is nothing.” It is suitable for all stakeholders.
And CAF decided last week to postpone the match to the first of next November (Saturday), due to the increase in the number of players infected with Corona in Raja to 14 players.
A sufficient decision came after the Moroccan team’s management submitted a petition to it after the number of injured in its ranks doubled, and was placed under quarantine by the Moroccan Ministry of Health for a period of seven days, in addition to the local authorities ’banning of his mission’s travel to Cairo.
