Elaf from Riyadh: Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal revealed that the Kingdom has submitted an official file to the Olympic Council of Asia for Riyadh’s candidacy to host the 2030 Asian Games.

The Kingdom’s progress to host this sporting event represents an important shift for sporting activity in the Kingdom and a major economic investment in addition to presenting Riyadh as a global destination to host important events, especially with the completion of major projects in the capital, including Qiddiya and Diriyah.

The Saudi Minister of Sports wrote through his official account on the social networking site “Twitter”: “I am pleased to announce today that the official file has been submitted to the Olympic Council of Asia for Riyadh’s candidacy to host the 2030 Asian Games.” He added, “We hope that this file befits the size of our ambitions and the splendor of the capital of our beloved kingdom.”

In spite of the political, economic and sports weight of the Kingdom in the Asian continent, it has never before hosted the Asian Games, which until the date of the organization of its 18 sessions. The Asian Games are held once every 4 years by the Olympic Council of Asia, with the next edition being held in China in 2022, and the next in Japan in 2026.
